MHI Receives Grant from Pfizer for Town Hall in 2021

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has just announced the awarding of $46,500 in sponsorship funding to the Minority Health Institute, Inc. to hold a Town Hall program called “Voices of the Heart” to raise awareness among the African American population about amyloid cardiomyopathy, or hATTR-CM, in which 90% of the victims are Black.


This deadly heart disease affects 4% of the Black population or about 1.5 million Black people in the U.S., most of whom are unaware that they are affected or are at risk.The “Voices of the Heart” Program will be held in 8 cities and MHI is the first to receive funding. The award was solicited by Richard Allen Williams, FACC, FAHA, FACP, Founder, President, and CEO of MHI, a Cardiologist who will be the lead presenter at the Town Hall.


The entire amount will be dedicated to the project without payment of any fundraising fees. More information will be provided soon about date, location, and other details such as whether it will be virtual or on-site.
