ABC scholarships and awards bolster the organization’s long-standing commitment to workforce diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Scholarships and awards support Black and other underrepresented students who are interested in cardiovascular medicine and show promise in research and academic and/or community medicine.

Merck Research Fellowship Award

Deadline fast approaching! Apply for the ACC/ABC Merck Research Fellowship Awards by June 12 and win a one-year, $100K adult cardiology fellowship, plus FREE travel to ACC.24 in Atlanta, GA! Applications are open to those currently in an adult cardiology training program. Three selected winners will receive $100,000 in funding to support research in adult cardiology. The research year begins July 1, 2023, and ends June 30, 2024. The deadline to submit applications is June 12.

Call for Abstracts
Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition

Submit your abstract summarizing any problem that relates to cardiovascular disease whether it is: Clinical, Basic or Population Science. Abstract must be original scientific research and must not have been published previously. Any physician/scientist presently in a residency or cardiology fellowship training program and active in the Association of Black Cardiologists is eligible.

Four (4) outstanding abstracts will be selected for presentation at ABC’s Annual Fellows Program live on Friday, April 5, 2024, in Atlanta, GA. Best Abstract Winner will also receive a $1,000 cash award.

Attention Medical Students

ABC is pleased to announce the ABC/Biosense Webster Scholarship for Medical Students. Through this new partnership, ten (10) $10,000 scholarships are available in support of the enrollment and academic success of promising medical students from Black and other underrepresented communities.
Dr. Richard Allen Williams Scholarship for Medical Students
Applications for the Dr. Richard Allen Williams Scholarship for Medical Students are being accepted for academic year 2023-24. Named in honor of ABC Founder, Richard Allen Williams, MD, FACC, FAHA, five (5) successful candidates will each be awarded a $5,000 scholarship to support their academic journey to becoming cardiologists.
